A Therapeutic Photography Group for Those Experiencing Grief and Loss
Grief changes the way we see the world.
Sometimes, a familiar place carries a memory. A tree, a window, a colour, a season, or a quiet moment can suddenly remind us of someone we love or of a life that has changed.
Through the Lens is a gentle, creative four-week group, providing space to explore grief and loss through photography and reflective writing.
Over four weeks, we will slow down and notice the things around us. Through the lens of a cellphone camera, participants will be invited to capture images that hold meaning for them and respond to those images through guided writing prompts.
This is not about taking the “right” photograph or being a photographer. It is about seeing, remembering, expressing, and making space for what we carry.
Photography can sometimes help us express feelings that are difficult to say aloud. Writing can give those feelings another place to land. Together, these creative practices can offer an opportunity to explore memories, love, absence, change, connection, and the many layers of grief.
There is no right way to grieve, and there is no expectation to share anything that feels too personal. This will be a supportive space where you can participate at your own pace and in your own way.
Please bring: A cellphone with a working camera
No photography or writing experience is required.
Come as you are. Bring your memories, your questions, your quiet moments, and your own way of seeing the world.Sometimes, what we cannot put into words can be found in the way we see.
